Well, John Woo may not have managed to get his Hugh Jackman starring gangster-musical off the ground but Steven Soderbergh's about to get Hugh singin' and dancin'. In a toga. Yep. Rock opera. Music by Guided By Voices, Hugh Jackman as Marc Antony. Catherine Zeta Jones as Cleopatra. In 3-D. And, okay, there won't actually be any togas because Soderbergh is moving the story out of ancient Egypt and into the 1920s.
And it gets stranger. Once Soderbergh's done with Zeta Jones he has apparently cast Michael Douglas to play the lead in a Liberace bio-pic. But first he's got porn star Sasha Grey in The Girlfriend Experience. I want Steven Soderbergh's life.
I'm not making this up, but I kind of wish I had.
