Maurice Devereaux's apocalyptic horror film End of the Line played numerous film festivals, including Toronto International Film Festival, Fantasia and Fantastic Fest, for at least a year beginning in 2006. Now, after what seems like an eternity, End of the Line is finally out on Canadian DVD from Critical Mass Entertainment and the Canadian division of Anchor Bay. Yes, the release date is no longer speculative: the DVD actually hit the street on October 14, 2008. This new release includes, among other extras, an audio commentary and a documentary about the making of the film. The theatrical trailer is featured beneath the fold. A link to the new TV spot on Youtube is provided as well.

End of the Line is a clever, suspenseful film that exchanges familiar horror antagonists such as monsters, zombies, and serial killers with a different threat: crazed evangelical cultists under the influence of an unknown force. The film, which mostly takes place in a subway, explores the extreme edges of religious faith, and envisions an apocalypse that follows from human visions of a demon-haunted world. Although Kurt does not seem to have enjoyed the film, End of the Line is a great piece of work whose festival awards and broader DVD release are well-deserved. Look for a full review of the DVD at some point in the near future.
