Bubba Ho-Tep fans, don't let star Bruce Campbell's apparent falling out with director Don Coscarelli turn your joy to despair, it turns out that the proposed Bubba-prequel, Bubba Nosferatu, which pits Elvis against vampire in New Orleans aint dead yet. As hard as it is to imagine making one of these films without Campbell in the lead it appears Coscarelli is doing exactly that and he's found just the guy to step into the shiny cape. According to co-star Paul Giamatti in an interview over at Aint It Cool an offer has been made to have Ron Perlman step into the role. And, yeah, I'm feeling pretty good about that.
That sounds kinda brave...a little dumb...but somehow it sounds as though it could work too. Interesting.
I was really disappointed and ready to make a negative comment until I read "Ron Perlman". Now I'm intrigued.
As much as I love Ron, --the dude is simply awesome-- I have my doubts wheter or not he can pull it off, very difficult considering The Chin set the gold standard here. But if you've got Paul Giamatti on board and a scrept from J.R. Lansdale, it's hard not to make the film.
Why the hell didn't they go after Nicholas Cage? The dude needs a fan and critically approved comeback after all those horrible big budget crap fests he's done lately. Plus Cage does an amazing Elvis.
