Blood Is Red. And So Is The New Trailer For Swedish Vampire Flick LET THE RIGHT ONE IN.

by Todd Brown, October 17, 2008 4:47 PM

[The original link for the red band trailer was glitchy for some, this is freshly updated with a working version.]

It is, without a doubt, one of the very best films of the year and arguably one of the finest vampire films ever made. It's beautiful, poetic, haunting and horrifying. It may just be the most heavily awarded film on the festival circuit this year and has a shot of adding more to its haul when it kicks off Toronto After Dark on Friday. It is, of course, Let The Right One In, a film which regular readers of this site must be good and sick of hearing about by now. So I'll be brief. With the US release approaching quickly a new, red-band trailer has just been unleashed upon the public. Blood is red. And vampires like blood. You'll find both of the US trailers below the break.

Cherub,

I'm actually reading "Let the Right One In" right now. I saw the movie last January and am very impressed by both! There are so many differences (big and small) between the two versions that I consider it to be a marvel that Lindqvist wrote both the book and the script.

As far as I know only one other book by Lindqvist ("Handling the Undead") is slated for release in the English language, but you say he wrote another two?
Can you tell us all what they're about?

And I watched the picture you posted. Brrrr.....

I'm just finishing the book as well and love it. I think the adaptation is quite faithful really, other than a few subplots and threads omitted for time. The core of the story is exactly the same.

And I'd love to have a Swedish writer, Cherub ... are you offering?

Ard Vijn > Människohamn, translate to "Port of Man", and is about strange things on a secluded island in the archipelago and Pappersväggar, translate to "Paper walls" and is a collection of short stories.

No doubt that let the right one is the opus but I did enjoy reading the other so am hoping that they will be dramatized sooner or later, Sweden being a small country that usually happens if any author has some kind of success i.e. Stieg Larsson and his millenium-triology.

I'd love to do my part but I'm living in Canada for another 2 months :(

I read somewhere that Handling the Undead would be released in 2009 in the US. Hopefully with the success of the film we will get all of Lindqvist's novels. He seems like a very fascinating fellow. His bio states he spent a few years as a standup comedian.

I love the cover photo. Thanks for posting Cherub.
