Asia Filmfest Lineup Announced!

by Todd Brown, October 18, 2008 11:04 AM

You know, I could live my life doing nothing but travel from festival to festival around the globe and be a very happy man if only time and money allowed. And had I the means to do so I'd be looking at heading to Germany in November, where the Asia Filmfest will be running in Munich, Berlin and Hamburg. And why would I want to go there? Well, The Wong Kar Wai retrospective is certainly a draw, as is the first ever screening of Paco and the Magical Picture Book outside of Japan. The chance to see Kim Ki-Duk's Dream is mighty appealing and any festival that includes a 35mm screening of a Hanzo The Razor film in its retrospective section is okay by me. Yup.

Wow, there's about 11 films there I'd like to see. If only I werent a starving NY freelance writer.....

Though I'm also interested in DREAM, PACO and seeing FALLEN ANGELS and HAPPY TOGETHER on a big screen, I think I'm more interested in DACHIMAWA LEE, TOKYO!, THE CHASER, CROWS ZERO, CHOCOLATE, MONSTER X STRIKES BACK and seeing TOKYO DRIFTER on a big screen as well. Hell, I don't think I could pass up the chance to see A CHINESE GHOST STORY again if the schedule fit..maybe even MACHINE GIRL (I did enjoy TGP).

Oh man, why am I fantasizing about something I know I can't go to....
