I dunno, looks nicely shot and all ... but Clive Owen. Horrible actor, horrible face. He pretty much ruins the trailer, wouldn't be surprised if he did the same for the film.

I'm not sure about the plot, but I love Tykwer's films, so I'm definitely going to see this.
Also, Ulrich Thomsen as the bad guy. How great is that?

Btw, is that Axel Milberg (with the red tie, about 40 seconds into the trailer) or are my eyes (and ears) deceiving me?

Looks good, but the story looks familiar.

Hey, when I was in Berlin, Anna Blume's was my fav place to eat. Probably a chain, or more accurately a cultural reference that's way over my ignorant head--wikipediaded it just now--but still, good stuff.

Oh and as for the trailer--eh, I wish I was more excited. The plot looks pretty pedestrian and though it does look visually interesting, I think I'll wait til closer to the time when it comes out to start caring.

Clive Owen is the sort of actor who can elevate a bad script to watchable; after Inside Man, Children of Men and Shoot 'Em Up, I was prepared to watch just about anything he was in.
Sadly, this script appears to be too astoundingly vile for anyone to salvage. How the fuck did anyone not throw that script out the window the moment they read just about every line in that screamingly shit trailer?

It's Tykwer, unless he's lost it, watching it will be mesmerizing and sexy. For now, I'm unconcerned with the lame script the trailer implies.

tom twyker never took off after a promising LolaRuns, I would argue that his Kieslowski adaptation was his low-point he never recovered from, especially the ridiculously bad and rewritten Parfum adaptation.

I've got to utterly disagree with you there, The Princess and the Warrior, Heaven and Perfume were all beautiful and beautifully directed films. The man's got talent and he's been showcasing it wonderfully with every subsequent film. I can understand the negative reaction to Perfume, as the protagonist is rather despicable. But, damn, that movie's a whole lot of awesome when you think about it, and it certainly isn't "ridiculously bad". Nah, old Tommy's my boy alright and even though the trailer for "The International" did not stir any profound emotion from me, it still seems to have that Tykwer touch to it, so it should, at the very least, be an amazing technical production. Also, finally, why is the idea of a "big bank conspiracy" so ridiculous?

I'm hoping that this trailer, as mediocre it is, isn't indicative of the final product. It's already been noted that it uses clips from other films (such as an explosion scene from Ghost Rider) to cater to a specific audience, so I'm hoping the narration that mentioned the "big bank conspiracy" is one that was done with sensationlism and lack of tact. There's nothing wrong per se with a plot point like that, but the trailer definitely made it seem downright silly and naive.
