First Footage Seen From REYKJAVIK WHALE WATCHING MASSACRE!

by Todd Brown, September 24, 2008 2:52 PM

Earlier today at Fantastic Fest the producer of the upcomign horror comedy Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre - starring Texas Chainsaw Massacre's Gunnar Hansen - waved me over to show a reel of footage of the upcoming film. The verdict? There was very little in the way of blood or gore shots in the footage shown - no surprise there as the film just finished shooting and will need to go through post before a lot of that stuff is ready - but what was included looked very impressive. The film shares a DP with Pete Riski's Dark Floors, which is an impeccably shot film, and the look is outstanding. Energy seemed good, the cast engaging and I'm excited to see more. Expect more stills soon but in the meantime hit the link below to see the very first released still from the picture.

An epic tale about a group of whale watchers, whose ship breaks down and they get picked up by a whale fisher vessel. The Fishbillies on the vessel have just gone bust, and everything goes out of control.

It’s a cross between the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Blairwitch Project, combined with the dark and bloody humor of Evil Dead.

They played this reel before the second screening of Astropia here at Fantastic Fest. Looks really nice up on the screen, as nice as digital projection can go. Sat with the producer during that screening, gave him my thoughts on it after it played out.
