Well, well, it seems Quentin Tarantino is up to his old casting tricks and this time he may have even topped himself. Remember the eyebrows raised when John Travolta was cast in Pulp Fiction after years of nothing but crappy straight to video work? Well, hold on for this one ...
The UK's Telegraph is reporting that Tarantino has just cast pop starlet Britney Spears in the role of Varla - a lesbian killer (as in a killer who is lesbian) - in his upcoming remake of Russ Meyer's Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill!. If this works - which I have my doubts about - it could be a brilliant move. If not, Tarantino has just opened himself up to a massive amount of derision.
In other Tarantino casting news, word is also circulating that he's cast his friend, director Eli Roth, to a significant role in his upcoming Inglorious Bastards. I assume Roth is taking the Peter Hooten role - which he'd actually be a decent match for - because Bo Svensen and Fred Williamson he aint. I suppose the good news here, for Tarantino fans, is that if he's at the casting stage for both of this films already it means that he might actually stop talking about them and actually make them sometime soon.

Inglorious Bastards is not really a direct remake, he's probably just using the badass title and some story elements. I don't think there are any of the same characters either.
This is the most unnecessary remake I've ever heard of. People should remake BAD films, not classics.
When I managed a NYC video store in the 90's we used to call and order the VHS's of Russ Myer's films from his company and he used to always answer the phone himself and would talk your ear off. We'd always look for excuses to order his films just so we could talk to him.
Personally, I rather imagine Lindsay Lohan in this "titular" remake. I'm a Russ Meyer purist, and hope this is some unworthy rumor.
If this is fake then I say Thank God. He needs to get on with Inglorious Bastards or his "kung fu film".
Anyone knows if the original "Puysscat" flick is ever getting a decent DVD release?
Che, Check out the Russ Meyer collection that was released in the UK. The best releases so far, commentaries by the man himself and plenty of other good stuff. Great transfers as well.
Meyer was notorious for being a bit nuts and a little paranoid. John Waters gave Meyer his phone number once and lived to regret it. Meyer would call at all hours and obsess.
Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, Natassja Kinski, Simon Pegg, David Krumholtz - how about that for casting so far for Tarantino's IG? All systems are GO!
Oh come one! This story was confirmed fake at least a two days ago...
I second the recommendation of the UK Arrow releases. I have them all and even the lesser films are sometimes graced with excellent extras, like Mondo Topless getting the Jonathon Ross show. I'm glad this is a fake story, btw. Russ's films should be left alone, they can only be done harm by remakes. His filmmaking was far too idiosyncratic to be copied without disaster.
