This past March at the Hong Kong Filmart a friend flagged me down across the convention center floor, told me he had something I had to see and pulled me over to a boot on the other side of the room. What he was so excited about was Invitation Only, the first ever straight up slasher film to come out of Taiwan and possibly that region of the Chinese speaking world in general. it was easy to see why he was excited ... while the film followed a fairly standard plotline - a group of pretty young things are invited to an exclusive party where they become prey for a vicious killer - it's done with a huge amount of style and knowledge of what makes slashers go and simply transplanting that approach into an Asian culture where this sort of thing is still totally foreign was more than enough to breathe life into it and make it feel fresh.
I've been waiting for a trailer for the film to turn up ever since. It hasn't but they have released a trio of grisly posters that are rather impressive in their own right. Hit the link below to check them out.
