We've been tracking Simon Hunters' Mutant Chronicles in these pages for well over a year now and with star Thomas Jane posting the first English teaser on his website just a day or so back the 'nets are all abuzz about the film. But I'm feeling fairly torn about this thing now that I've seen it in action: I can't seem to decide whether it looks like all sorts of awesome or all sorts of ass. The presence of John Malkovich and Ron Perlman would argue against the ass end of the spectrum but I'm just not quite willing to commit.

It looks...more promising then I would have expected it to? Usually in a coin toss situation I tend to lean towards the "all sorts of ass" side of things, but who knows.
It's not truly letting on to how violently graphic it's going to be.

I was reading through AICN yesterday in my lunchour at work. Unfortunately we have "limited" access to the internet and can't watch any video clips, which is a shame because AICN happened to have the US trailer. Not being able to see the clip for myself, I read through some of the talkback comments underneath.
Now having seen a clip for myself, I can't understand the negative reaction it was getting. It seems everyone expects a 50Million dollar budget for everything they see. Are the fx as accomplished as transformers? No. Do they need to be, in order help illustrate the story? Hell no.
This isn't destined for big box office, but it looks bloody entertaining.
Nice to see Devon Aoki here too. Sure she's a one-trick pony, but she's still pretty cool.
i don't care that much about looks either but I still tend to the "all sorts of ass" end after seeing the framing/scenes and hearing the actors.
