Much like his earlier film R-Point I found Kong Su-Chang’s Guard Post 506 to ultimately be a bit of a disappointment. I love the guy's ideas but there just seems to be something in the way he executes his films that just doesn't work for me. But that said, those who like his films generally love them and this latest one got glowing press in Korea, so obviously there are those out there who disagree with me. And if you're one of those who love his work you'll be glad to know that Kong's Guard Post 506, the story of a guard post along the Korean DMZ infected by a strange disease that turns the soldiers into strange zombie-like creatures, is due to hit DVD July 5th.
