We first caught wind of upcoming Japanese anthology R246 Story back in March, immediately drawn to the project because one of the included short films is directed by Tadanobu Asano from a script by Shinji Aoyama, both of whom are huge favorites around here. Here's what we had to say about the film back in March:
R246 Story is anthology project revolving around a famous Japanese highway. So what does Asano do when told to make a movie about a highway? He casts himself as an alien. A dying alien. An alien dying because it has lost the drum kit that is the source of its power, a drum kit that can only be regained by defeating a child prodigy in a guitar showdown.
The first teaser has just arrived online and it includes ... well, not a lot. It is basically just a list of the involved directors, but hey! It's something and hopefully something more will come soon. You'll find the teaser in the Twitch Player below the break.
Whoah, wait, Genki Sudo? Verbal? A dude from Rip Slime? Are they really letting a mixed martial artist, rapper, and rock star direct their own short films? I sure hope so cos those guys are all awesome!
