b13.jpgFirst there was Banlieue 13 (aka District B13 in the US), now enter Banlieue 14. Thats right, the good folks at Allocine.fr is reporting the sequel to the 2004 french jaw-dropping parkour actioner is underway. Luc Besson returns as the scriptwriter while Pierre Morel will step down from the director chair. Helming the sequel instead is Patrick Alessandrin, the director of some french comedies including Mean Spirit and August 15th. He also serve as an assistant director to Luc Besson's Subway. No word yet on the plot details or if stunt actors David Belle and Cyril Raffaelli would return but David did gave a heads up on a open casting call for traceurs (practitioners of parkour) at his official blog site.

Filming is expected to begin in July and run throughout till October. You'll find the US trailer for Banlieue 13 below after the break on our Twitch player.

According to Dany Verissimo's Myspace blog, she won't be returning for the sequel, but Cyril Rafaelli and David Belle will. That's kind of a shame.

EuropaCorp - your kick-ass 90 minute action movie superstore. Between this and TRANSPORTER III, I can only say "God bless you, Mr. Besson." His last few directorial efforts might have been lacking a little something (quality) but as a action writer-producer he still delivers the goods by the kilo. He's transformed himself into France's answer to Ng See-Yuen. The cool thing is that I suspect Besson would know what I meant by that and take it as the compliment it was intended to be.
