Yes, this news isn't the freshest we've ever posted - I believe the trailer is a couple days old now - but over the weekend the lady friend and I took the boy to see Speed Racer - which she hated, I was middling on and the boy really enjoyed - and the big highlight before the show was catching the trailer for the new, animated Star Wars movie before the screening. Hey, kids! It's a new Star Wars movie that looks to be remarkably free of suck! And very high on action! Huzzah!
There [i]does[/i] appear to be a great deal of action in this incredibly cheap-looking CGI epic apparently involving [i]Jabba Junior[/i] and a bunch of celebrity impersonators.
THE DARK KNIGHT better do really, really, [i]really[/i] well - I can't see this half-assed take on STAR WARS being able to compete with WALL*E. Or KUNG FU PANDA. Or even just seeing IRON MAN again.
I think Warner Brothers needs a hug. Or will, soon enough. This isn't their year.
I think the characters needed to be the stylized types that they are because there's pretty much the same amount of CGI in the live action versions. Makes it made it easier to tell the movies apart I declare.
This looks good, but I'm not so sure how audiences are gonna respond. The crowd that saw this trailer right before Speed Racer seemed a bit confused. One little kid in the row behind me yelled 'this sucks' when Jabba the Hut showed up, lol.
Personally, I hope it's really good - and successful. My only criticism is that I think we've seen enough of the Clone Wars, but oh well...
