Kurt Wimmer's scifi action picture Ultraviolet may have turned into a director's worst nightmare - the film was plagued with production problems and the studio took control of it away from Wimmer, releasing a version that had little relation to the film he had set out to make - but it aint quite dead yet. Sony have brought acclaimed anime studio Madhouse in to produce an animated film based on Wimmer's film. Titled Ultraviolet Code 044 the film is directed by Osamu Dezaki and slated to premiere in Japan July 1st. The first teaser has arrived online and while it doesn't show much this is such a strong title to do this sort of adaptation with it's hard not to imagine the possibilities.
