Harryhausen Would Be Proud.

by Todd Brown, April 13, 2008 8:01 AM

Say what you will about the prevalence of CG effects, the good old practical stuff is never going to go away entirely. Why? Because people like real stuff. Sure, you can tell it's artificial but at least it's a real kind of artificial, an actual artifact that someone built in the real world as opposed to just a blob of pixels on the screen. It's why the films of Ray Harryhausen will never go away and why film makers around the world will continue to emulate his techniques.

Case in point: Larry Arpin's Galactic Raiders, an independent, low budget sci-fi picture that comes complete with a giant stop motion animated dinosaur. If the clip on the official website is any indication it also comes with some dodgy acting and a rather silly script but, man, that dinosaur looks great ...

Dino can take a punch! Shit, this reminds me of the dragon Katla in Bröderna Lejonhjärta (The Brothers Lionheart) ^^
