Korean cop thriller The Chaser has proven to be the surprise hit of the year, a relatively low budget affair loosely based on an actual serial murder case that has been packing out theaters throughout Korean based on strong word of mouth with audiences steadily growing from week to week. It's a success that hasn't escaped the notice of Hollywood remake king Roy Lee and his partners on The Departed who have bought remake rights to the film and set the project up with Warner Brothers. Warners is obviously hoping to replicate the success of The Departed with Leonardo DiCaprio slated to star and William Monahan attached to write.
