One of the things that has generally marked Korean horror films is that there is a sense of elegance to them, a sense of style, mood and restraint. It's not always the case but it tends to be so. But it is definitely not the case with Someone Behind You, the new horror picture from the director of Art of Seduction. If the trailer's any indication this one's aiming to be a full on, shriek a minute slasher, and it actually looks like a very over the top good time. I bought this when it was released on DVD in Korea and I must admit I was really disappointed. It's got some great set pieces and the acting and direction is pretty solid but it's a bit of a mess. I heard there were 5 screenwriters who worked on it which is probably why. To sum up, glimpses of brilliance let down by sloppy writing and a cliched, anti climactic ending. Sorry. I really wanted to like this!
