While still churning out the madness at a furious pace, Japanese maverick film maker Takashi Miike does like to step back from time to time and make something a little bit tamer than the work he's best known for and the upcoming God's Puzzle - due for a summer release in Japan - looks to be one of those films. A little bit comedy of errors, a little bit young romance, a little bit scifi, the film revolves around a young slacker who agrees to attend his identical twin's college classes when his brother goes on a trip overseas and ends up being partnered with a teenages - and attractive - physics genius in a project to create a universe. The producer on this was also behind recent Japanese hits Yamato and Tsubaki Sanjuro so you can bet this will have a much more mainstream approach than the bulk of Miike's work.

After seeing Ichi The Killer, Audition, Visitor Q and Gozu; I will give anything Miike puts out there! I look forward to a removal fom his more extreme side:P
I agree. My very Miike movie is 'Young Blood: Nostalgia' which mixed very nicely a big dose of sentimentality and a small dose of his bazaar.
