First Images From Yankovsky's ROCK HEAD!

Ever since coming across Phillip Yankovsky's I've been anxiously awaiting word on what the Russian director would do next. The man is an enormous visual talent with an unusual approach to both genre and story and, in my mind, doesn't get nearly the attention and respect he deserves.

Well, the next project is Rock Head, one we've been tracking here for a little while. Starring real life former heavyweight Nikolay Valuev in the lead as an amnesiac boxer trying to piece his past together while on a mission for revenge this promises, once again, to be a genre infused effort though with Yankovsky at the helm you can never be quite sure where he's going to take things. The first block of stills from the film recently appeared in Russia and they are, typically, gorgeous stuff. Yankovsky's adopting a very different look for this picture than he did with the rusted out decay of Sword Bearer but it looks every bit as impressive. Also impressive? The sheer bulk of Valuev. This man's a monster!

Todd, there is one film of Yankovsky, which you probably didn't watch. It's called "In Motion" and it is the first film of Yankovsky. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0351936/ It is very good.

You're right. All I've been able to see of his is Sword Bearer and State Councilor and I really like them both. Is In Motion available with subtitles anywhere?
