Argento And Carpenter Sharing Screenwriters For Their Next Films ...

Given the quality of their recent output I'm not entirely certain this can be classed as "good" news, per se, but it is certainly interesting. Word has broken on new theatrical features from both Dario Argento and John Carpenter. Argento, about to get rolling in Turin, will be shooting an English language slasher titled Giallo, starring his daughter Asia, Ray Liotta and Vincent Gallo. Liotta and Gallo in an Argento film? Wouldn't have called it but it seems like a fun choice. Meanwhile, John Carpenter is poised to return to the big screen after a seven year absence with L.A. Gothic, five interwoven stories about a priest trying to save his teenaged daughter (so not a Catholic priest, or at least not a particularly observant one) from demonic forces. The interesting twist in all of this is that both scripts come from the pens of Sean Keller and Jim Agnew. And you've got to acknowledge that even if their output has slipped in recent years it's got to be fun to be able to say that you've got scripts being filmed simultaneously by the likes of Argento and Carpenter ...
