We reported on An Empress and The Warriors back during the AFM, excited both to see legendary fight choreographer Tony Ching (of Hero and House of Flying Daggers fame) taking the director's chair and to see star Donnie Yen kicking it (yes, that was a remarkably bad pun) old school style. And now you can see for yourself since the trailer has arrived on YouTube.
Kelly Chen seems wildly miscast, like she accidentally stumbled into a time portal on her way to a costume party. Fortunately, the rest of it looks epic enough that I can forgive such things. It's always nice to see Ching Siu-Tung given a real budget to play with, on a movie he's actually directing. The man's too talented to be shooting second unit for Uwe Boll, or squandering his skills, however entertainingly, on junk like NAKED WEAPON. Not that NAKED WEAPON isn't entertaining, but it's definitely junk.
