The Twitch Video Player Crosses The 1000 Line!

Title says it all, really. Thanks to the help of all of you who have been fiercely uploading away the freshly launched Twitch Video Player already includes a library of more than one thousand trailers, videos and clips from around the globe! There are, of course, many more than a thousand trailers, videos and clips in the world, which means there's still ample room to expand but, shucks, I'm feeling pretty darn good about what's in there so far and how quickly we've expanded.

Highlights in the current batch of uploads? Seijun Suzuki's Branded To Kill, a trio of teasers for Jeunet et Caro's City of Lost Children, Jan Kounen's Dobermann, classic cult comedy Harold and Maude and more, more, more! Get in there and get browsing!

For those chasing the upload title and the DVD copy of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex complete Second Gig that comes with it, with just one day left to claim the prize San Ku Kai has built up a commanding lead. It's not out of reach yet but it'll take some work.

And in related news, we've been talking about ways that we'd like to put the player to use and one thing I'd like to do is some articles focusing on specific directors and movements, kind of like what I did here with Yoji Yamada. It'd be a chance to showcase some favored directors not to mention some under-seen movies and hopefully compile a little bit of a biographical primer with all the trailers compiled in one place. As always, your participation is more than welcome - vital even, if we're going to do these with any sort of regularity - so if you've got someone you'd like to see included in such a thing, and happen to have a hidden cache of trailers, load 'em up and drop me a note via the contact form to let me know that you've done a bit of thematic uploading. Heck, if you wanted to put together some accompanying text that'd be lovely and appreciated, too, and you would, of course be fully credited. On my current short list for such treatment are Shinya Tsukamoto, Peter Jackson, David Lynch, Lars von Trier and a fistful of others ...
