My god, Pang Ho Cheung works fast. Exodus, his latest, is still doing the international festival circuit and already he's got a trailer together for his next offering, the comedic Trivial Matters. This one's got an all star cast of young Hong Kong talent and is based on a series of seven short stories written by Pang himself. While I personally consider Exodus a bit of a mis-step there are many who disagree with me and there is absolutely no doubt that Pang is one of Hong Kong's brightest talents ...

I'm glad he's going back to doing a nonsensical comedy in the style of Men Suddenly in Black again!
What I like about Pang is that he takes nonsensical material and really sells its believability. EXODUS is both his most serious film in tone, and one of his most absurd, and somehow these two extremes peacefully co-exist in a movie that feels for all the world like an American early-70s conspiracy thriller.
