With the release of Álex de la Iglesia's Hollywood film The Oxford Murders next year, it seems companies well at least Metrodome in the UK have finally realised that Iglesias has a very impessive filmography!. Due for release is Accion Mutante and 800 Bullets in the UK, theres no information on specs or extras as yet though.
Both DVDS are due for release 26th December
Accion Mutante can't be any worse a DVD than the US bootleg. I haven't seen the Spanish SE, but I'll buy this one.
I so did not like 800 Bullets. I really should see Accion Mutante though...
I currently have the dutch dvd version of Accion Mutante, which has a bloody awfull picture quality (and I believe the spanish disc isn't much better).
So I do hope that they will give the print a good re-mastering on this UK dvd release.
For that other Álex de la Iglesia classic 'El Dia de la Bestia' (Day of the Beast) I had to turn to a (rather good) german release...
Accion Mutante is long overdue, but where's the R1 release? It seems a shame that this guy's films are so hard to see in decent editions. At least Tartan released El Crimen Ferpecto (except under the boring title "The Perfect Crime", spoiling the pun entirely).
Steer clear of the available R1 A.M. DVD - Quality is VHS Bootleg at best, both the visual and audio.
Tartan's Ferpect Crime (I refuse to call it by the vanilla title Tartan slapped on it) R1 DVD is smashingly good. Well worth a buy. It's a solid, solid film too.
The R1 is a bootleg, and a terrible one at that. Same place that bootlegged Meet The Feebles. I can't wait for this!
Very cool, my VHS of MUTANTE gave out over ten years ago and I haven't seen the film since.

I have a good Spanish DVD of El Dia De La Bestia, with subtitles but there are extras on it that are sadly not subtitled.
I'd also love a definitive DVD for my favorite film from de la Iglesia, PERDITA DURANGO. Not just my favorite film from him but one of my favorite films, period. So far the German DVD wins for best picture quality but the Spanish DVD has a number of extras I'd really love to see subtitled, especially the audio commentary, of course. The R1 is missing several minutes of material and is therefore utterly useless but I understand it's right's issues (film clips and music used in the picture) that messed that one up so badly so who knows if it can ever be resolved.
While arthouse darling Almodover gets box sets a plenty and you can pick up his work as easy as breathing, genre hopping Álex de la Iglesia gets treated appallingly bad, classics Accion Mutante and my personal fave El Dia de la Bestia are as rare as rocking horse shit on UK. time for some one to pull thier finger out and do him and us justice.
