Twitch and AICN Working Together To Create A New Master Race ...

by Todd Brown, October 4, 2007 10:35 AM

Well, no, not really. But I do have a new column over there. Harry and I got to work together a bit programming for Fantastic Fest this year and in the aftermath I floated the idea of possibly doing some sort of periodic wrap up of the best international stuff we'd come across here at Twitch as a sort of primer for his readers there at Aint it Cool. He liked the idea and, lo! International Eye Candy was born. The plan at the moment is for it to run as a bi-weekly wrap up of what strike me as the five or ten most interesting things we've come across in that period. The first installment is up now.

Thanks for this great news Todd! I'm a big fan of AICN and enjoy reading the various reviews and articles by Harry, Quint, Moriarty, Scott Green and the rest of the writers there. I've wanted to contribute reviews to them in the past but have been intimidated by their huge readership and influence. I'm definitely glad that Twitch and AICN will be teaming up and look forward to this awesome new feature.

Well, Todd, I commend you for doing AICN this favor. I will admit that I can rarely tolerate their site -- it seems as if it is stuck in a timewarp where it's perpetually 1997. The design and adolescent talkbacks have not changed in the 11 years since I first stumbled onto that site.

Twitch won my heart with its easy-to-use design and short and pertinent news and reviews links -- I don't have to click a headline to see the gist of a story unlike on other sites.

And, while I may be wrong, AICN seems to be shilling merchandise far more than they did in the past. There are just too many DVD reviews that read as long ads for something just released at Amazon.

At least on Twitch I don't feel like I'm being bombarded -- you have links to YesAsia but, hey, I was using that site years before I stumbled onto Twitch so that's fine by me.

Anyway, good for you for helping them out. Maybe now they will step up their game to meet the standards set here.
