First Proper Trailer For Alain Corneau's LE DEUXIÈME SOUFFLE

by Todd Brown, October 1, 2007 8:41 AM

Alain Corneau's remake of Jean Pierre Melville's classic noir - it's rather a noir day here at Twitch - has been drawing a good bit of attention around these parts thanks both to its bold visual style and the simple fact that Corneau was wise enough to cast Monica Bellucci in the femme fatale role which is never a bad move. A pre-production teaser appeared a good while back but we've finally stumbled across the proper version and it looks like compelling, if rather unusual stuff, with a wildly skewed color palette. And Bellucci as a blond.

It's a bit ironic that a) Bellucci may be the weakest link here and b) the film ends up being about her as much as anything else. Don't let that scare you away because c) the film is simply gorgeous to watch and d) so is Bellucci.

Corneau has been around for an eternity and rarely disappoints. Hope the film sees an English-friendly DVD release sooner or later.
