AFM: Art Meets Conspiracy in THE VANISHING POINT

by Todd Brown, October 14, 2007 1:25 PM

Stop me if you've heard this one before: an art student discovers the clues to an ancient conspiracy hidden in the artwork of a well known painter ... Okay, the premise is familiar but the similarities between this and Ron Howard's overblown adaptation of Dan Brown's potboiler appear to be only on the surface and, in a key difference, Laurent De Bartillat's The Vanishing Point looks as though it may actually be quite good. Here's the synopsis:

An art history student tries to solve the mystery of Watteau’s paintings. Her investigation brings her into contact with Vincent, mute since birth, who turns her study upside down...

The film will be screening at the upcoming American Film Market.
