Back at the HK Filmart in March upstart Thai production house Mono Film were showing footage from their still-shooting-at-the-time actioner Fighting Beat. And, honestly, they shouldn't have. What the had with them was beyond raw and did nothing at all to showcase the talent involved in the film. Since then I've simply ignored the picture but today, just out of curiosity, I swung by the film's official website to take a look at the trailer now that the footage has been through proper post production and editing. And I'm glad I did. It's not the second coming of Ong Bak but the production values are very good, the fighters are skilled, there's a nice dose of comedy and the fights are satisfyingly crunchy and realistic. Certainly worth a look.
It's good to see Mono Film hasn't given up on action. Fighting Beat will open in Thailand cinemas on November 1.
