I can 100% confirm that "The Jane Austen Book Club" is not one of the secret AICN screenings at this years Fantastic Fest! What will be screening however on opening night promises to be one hell of a kick off with George Romero's "Diary of the Dead." So get crazy and head over to the official Fantastic Fest website where the full schedule is up and start adding movies to your calendar. Also be sure and check out Matthew Kiernan of Fangoria's excellent Fantastic Fest preview (here) and Quint's at AICN (here).
FANTASTIC FEST PRESS RELEASE George Romero live in person! Thursday, September 20Wanting to return to his DIY roots, George Romero has opted for a grass-roots approach to his new DIARY OF THE DEAD film: no big stars, a quick shooting schedule, digital technology and a small budget. With a story mixing elements of THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT and the long-running "DEAD" series, the film follows a group of college students shooting a horror movie in the woods who stumble upon a real zombie uprising. When the onslaught begins, they seize the moment as any good film students would, capturing the undead in a "cinema verite" style that causes more than the usual production headaches.
Fantastic Fest is proud to announce Diary of the Dead as the official opening night film of Fantastic Fest 2007. George Romero will be live in person in support of the film and will conduct a Q&A following the screening.
As for the features screening I've seen and recommend, be sure to check out: Uncle's Paradise, Exte, Ferryman, Rug Cop, Crazy Thunder Road, Offscreen, Aachi and Ssipak, Death Note, Flight of the Living Dead, Never Belongs To Me, Princess, Sword Bearer and Taxidermia.

I have a feeling this will be a terrible piece of crap. Hopefully I'm wrong.
I am ridiculously jealous of the attendees. I so wish I could go, there are at least 25 films I can't wait to see playing three hours from me! Damned bills!
Does this mean Rug Cop is coming out subbed in English later on, possibly to DVD?
What about Kawasaki's other films, like Executive Koala?
