Another casting rumor for Five Deadly Venoms remake...

by Andrew Mack, September 6, 2007 10:17 AM

FDV-DVD.jpgThe names are slightly different than the last round of rumors went out about the cast for the Five Deadly Venoms 21st century remake. Jay Chou's name has been dropped from this last wealth of information. Edison is now rumored to be the disciple that has been sent by his master, Gordon Liu, to deal with five traitors.

Wang Lee Hom's [Lust, Caution] name has been added to the list of possible cast members. And the RZA's name has been added as well for this project, possibly as one of the treacherous pupils. Be it for a role in the film or just for music I am sure RZA will jump at the chance to be involved with the project given his love for classic kung-fu cinema. The other remaining pupils may be Maggie Q, Jing Wu, Huang Xiaoming and Lee Hom. Maggie of course will upset the balance of the universe as the five pupils in the original were all men. But you don't hear me complaining. Just don't kill her off right away. Please.

And probably the weirdest bit of news that was tacked on to the end of the Beijing Post report was that the martial arts director Dion Lam has already begun discussing the action scenes with Wong. That's not the odd part. Whoever made the report also noted that Wong has been a vegetarian for over 20 years despite being a director and actor in violent action movies. I'm still trying to make the connection.

"Wow, what an explosion!!! Is anyone else craving Bok Choy right now?"

Production begins in October.

I'm A Vegan but I still love violent films.. Don't thing there's any thing wrong with enjoying violent films and being Veggie or Vegan. Films may be about the real world sometimes, but they aren't the real world...

And there is a whole world of difference between liking action films and wanting to kill people or animals.. something that people forget when they go on about violent films and how they lead to violent people.
