It was a sad day when Grady Hendrix closed up shop on his "Kaiju Shakedown" blog for Variety earlier this year. He's one of the founders of Subway Cinema, the tiny group of Asian film advocates who have grown the New York Asian Film Festival into the premiere showcase for recent Asian films in the United States. Grady is a premiere word stylist, plus he knows his stuff, a deadly and addictive combination.
And now he's back! It's not so easy to find anymore -- typing the old URL (www.kaijushakedown.com) takes you to the old archive -- but you can go to Variety Asia Online, click on "Departments" in the top menu, select "Kaiju Shakedown," and presto chango, we've got some reading to catch up on.

We had to re-build the blog from scratch because it was moving from one department of Variety to another and so there will be some slight differences. Sorry about that, but life is change, etc.

A few weeks ago I kept hinting in Twitch's "old" Film News and Discussion Forum that Kaiju Shakedown would be making a "proverbial" comeback!!! Well, I'm glad the rumor held true to fruition. Welcome back Grady! :-) Why didn't Variety Asia tout his comeback within the context of their own webpages. Thanx Twitch for directing us to that Department menu!!!
