A teaser trailer for Yoshimitsu Morita's Tsubaki Sanjuro (Tsubaki Sanjûrô) has been added to the official website for the movie. Toho Co. Ltd. (Tôhô K.K.) is scheduled to release the movie theatrically in Japan on December 1st.
As was reported here on Twitch back on May 20, 2005, Tsubaki Sanjuro (Tsubaki Sanjûrô) is a remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1962 classic Sanjuro (Tsubaki Sanjûrô). The screenplay for it is the same one that was used for Kurosawa's film, which was written by Ryûzô Kikushima, Hideo Oguni, and Kurosawa, based on the novel Nichinichi heian by Shûgorô Yamamoto. It stars (listed order corresponds to order on cast page of official website) Yûji Oda, Etsushi Toyokawa, Ken'ichi Matsuyama, Anne Suzuki (Suzuki An), Eri Murakawa, Kuranosuke Sasaki, Tsuyoshi Hayashi, Ichitarô, Yoshihiro Kasuya, Kazuhito Tomikawa, Kimito Totani, Ryôhei Suzuki, Yûkichi Kobayashi, Takuya Nakayama, Morio Kazama, Tokuma Nishioka, Nenji Kobayashi, Tamao Nakamura, and Makoto Fujita.

Then again, really cocky move, making a same-script remake of an Akira Kurosawa movie!

Personally, I don't see the point in the project, even less so in remaking it with Kurosawa's original script. It just makes me less and less interested. I especially don't think that the new guy can pull off a line of dialogue like "Well...bye!" after staring down a man and outdrawing him with the same flair and callous cool that Mifune had in the first one.
