Ah, Kiyoshi, how do we love thee ... the latest from the acclaimed director of Cure, Kairo and Bright Future has just arrived on English subtitled DVD in Hong Kong and, unlike the failure of his previous film Loft, this one is vintage Kurosawa, a film that digs around in the themes of his previous works to make clear links and connections only hinted at before. It's also simply gorgeous to look at and features yet another stellar performance from Kurosawa's regular stand in for himself, Koji Yakusho. Yes, I like it a lot.

It is killing me that everyone's seen this movie but me. ACK!!
