INDIE DISTRIBUTOR 24 FRAMES TO LAUNCH NEW EXTREME LABEL WITH ASIAN HORROR
FILM “ALONE”
LOS ANGELES, CA, June 20, 2007 -- Independent distributor 24 frames®
announced today that it acquired from GMM Tai Hub Company Limited at Cannes
all North American rights and remake rights to the Asian Horror Film “ALONE”
for their 24 frames extreme label. This is the 2nd horror film from the
directing duo Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom who made the smash
hit chiller “Shutter” which is undergoing a Hollywood remake by Twentieth
Century Fox and Vertigo Entertainment.
The brilliant and terrifying horror film “ALONE” tells the story of Pim who
moved from Thailand to Korea to escape the guilt of being the surviving half
of a conjoined twin. Flashbacks to Pim’s childhood show how the bittersweet
relationship with her sister, and their commitment to stay together forever,
transforms into a repressive bond that ultimately leads to a separation.
After she returns to visit her dying mother, the spirit of her dead sister
angrily thrusts herself into Pim’s life.
“The directors know that the best thrillers and horror are built on common,
identifiable and recognizable themes such as in this case sibling rivalry,
romantic jealousy and family guilt,” says 24 frames President Ludo Cremers.
“The dark, psycho thriller elements recall the best of Alfred Hitchcock and
Brian DePalma.”
“This creepy film with its strong story and cast is easily the best reviewed
horror film of 2007”, says Director of Acquisitions Jesús di Sica. “We look
forward to scaring the heck out of American audiences with this compelling
find.”
“ ‘ALONE’ is a cut above the wave of horror titles released in recent years.
It very much represents what our new label 24 frames extreme is all about:
high impact, memorable, edge of your seat thrillers and horror films from
around the world,” says Ludo Cremers. “We will thrill you into a good time
you won’t soon forget.”
