Put this one in the "It's About Bloody Time" file. Danny Wallace's How To Start Your Own Country ran on UK television all the way back in 2005 and was originally slated to hit DVD in October of that year. And then the delays started piling up. And now, nearly two years later, it's finally arriving.
It's a little difficult to describe the unique charm of this show but it's one that both Mack and I followed rabidly throughout it's run. I suppose the key to it all is Wallace himself, a slightly awkward British humorist who sets out to literally secede from the UK and start his own country. In his flat. He does all the research to learn what goes in to launching a nation and then records the entire process. So, it's a comic documentary series and a good one at that. Wallace is a goofily charming host, the kind of guy you could easily run into at a pub or concert, an average guy just a little wittier than most who manages to raise some serious issues about nationhood throughout the process. Heck, it's just fun and I'm glad it's finally emerged.

Lovely.
