The May 18th US release of Christopher Smith's Severance is rapidly approaching and the fine folk at Magnolia Pictures have added a trio of extended clips from the film to its US website. One of them is currently labelled a trailer and I suppose that could be the case - it'd be a rather fun approach to a trailer, actually, and presents the film well - but it's actually a single extended sequence that marks the beginning of the grisly action. We like this movie. A lot. Checkit out.

I caught this over the weekend at a Midnight Screening for the Florida Film Festival, and it was a helluva treat. I don't want to spoil anything in the comments section, but suffice to say that there is great balance of grisly and humor (and grisly humor). There are some fantastic, well-played payoffs throughout, as well. The audience was a great one and everyone got into it, filling the theater with laughter and groans (sometimes at the same time). I plan on seeing it again when it gets a wider release.
Last year was a good one for gore/comedies with SLITHER,FEAST and especially SEVERANCE.
