Fans of carnivorous sheep and were-sheep rejoice! The much lauded horror-comedy about sheep running amok in New Zealand will reach our shores here in North America.
Eventually.
While I am overjoyed to hear this news [thanks Mark] it is the news of WHO will be bringing us this fantastic film that makes me sadly shake my head. Read on...
Black Sheep, Jonathan King’s horror comedy about sheep-gone-amok has just had it’s North American distribution rights acquired by The Weinstein Company and IFC Entertainment. The Weinstein Company will be releasing the film on DVD through Genius Products.
Sehring commented, “Jonathan’s film was all the buzz at The Toronto Film Festival and we are thrilled to be working with the Weinsteins to ensure it reaches a national audience. Black Sheep is a funny and macabre dissection of the monster genre that echoes of early Peter Jackson and in my humble opinion is the greatest film about man eating killer sheep I have ever seen.”
So. TWC eh? Dang it!!! So we'll see it when? A couple years from now? Thank God for all-region DVD players I say.
And our poor Kiwi brethren won't be seeing this film on screens until March!!! That also sucks.

TIFF's treatment of Black Sheep was the best way I could have hoped to lose my TIFF viginity. Forget "Snakes on a Plane", there was Sheep on the Red Carpet!
This news about NA distribution via TWC... I think you are being too generous with with your estimate.
I have a feeling that I'll be opening my own underground distribution house from my rez room when I move to NZ in a couple of months.
