Some bad news from Jason Gray, who has just relayed work that the Tokyo International Fantastic Film Festival will be 'taking a break' in what should have been its twenty first year. The festival director hopes things will resume in 2007 but a shutdown is never a good thing ...
You guys might be interested to know that this year's Tokyo Int'l Fantastic Film Festival, which is a side event that runs just before the main Tokyo Int'l Film Fest, is taking a year off. The resumption of it in 2007 is also in doubt. The festival, modeled after France's Avoriaz Film Festival, has been showing horror, science fiction and other genre films since 1985. But in recent years, it's been having difficulty finding sponsors.Chief fest producer Ito Seiko (long vowels above both 'o's) believes it will continue in the future. "I don't think that the break this year means it's over for good. With all my heart and spirit, I believe it will start again."

Of all the film festivals in the world we had attended we really enjoyed the Tokyo International Fantastic Film Festival the most . We hope that it returns in 2007 .sci fi work in Japan is very popular, its amazing to meet many fans who come out to see the actors ,directors writers and composers. We look forward to returning to japan as soon as its reinstated.gambatte TFFF.
