Sometimes there are DVD releases that don't get obvious reviews, sometimes there are slightly early reviews too. They do turn up online though, hidden away, hard to spot, and you're probably left wondering why we didn't get to hear about them in time or at all. Anyway, thing is, there's a few like this at the moment, those that go beyond the regular good coverage of odd DVD releases that are done so well by place like DVDTimes and DVDTalk, those that could be decent editions for previously duff ones or are unexpected appearances. Don't vouch for the quality of the work within them, but those tend to be the key places for the kind of stuff we also like to cover here. Here's a couple of key releases that we've been looking forwards to that didn't get many obvious reviews :

This 'Ultraman' set is somewhat of a new precedent, being a relatively cheap and extensive collection in one place, rather than a series of individual volumes then a thinpak set - not really screaming 'cash in', more 'for the fans'. I predict we could, indeed should, see more sets like this in the future - especially with the capacity of new disc format - but licensing costs remain a barrier. Apparently there is an upcoming trend in Live Action Japanese stuff heading our way too - let's hope for the rumoured recent 'Ultraman' series too.

Finally here's a cult Australian 70s soft porn classic that has made a quick recent appearance on DVD, 'Felicity' by John Lamond. Synopsis, "Glory Annen plays the boldly adventurous Felicity Robinson, a sheltered teen who embarks on a journey of sexual discovery in one of the most notorious softcore films of its era. Frequently likened to Emmanuelle, the sumptuous protagonist finds her horizons broadened as she travels from a rural girls school to a seedy Hong Kong mansion where libidinous men and women show no restraint in their initiations." Maybe not so good as a film, but it's an oddity, Australia has a really strong creative streak for film and TV and we don't see enough of it anywhere - any suggestions for other Australian films we can seek out on DVD anyone?
