See what I did there? 'Snakes on a Plane' with Sam Jackson, 'Afro Samurai' with Sam Jackson...? Some more news bits that seem to be new concrete information...

- Five Episodes, each 25 minutes in length originally, cut to 22 minutes for USA Broadcast.
- Episode has a budget of $1m.
- Each is made to match the English voices, subsequent dubbing in Japanese is necessary.
- FUNimation plan a release Stateside during Q1 or Q2 of 2007.
- Obligatory soundtrack by RZA, oh deary me...
- A 300-page manga adaptation of the Anime story by creator Takashi Okazaki in the works.

Now for the rumour end of the deal, that Christopher Nolan is connected in some way to the planned Live Action 'Afro Samurai' film (also set to star Jackson) which Todd mentioned last August. This is one of those incredibly tenuous 'he did a comic movie that was good recently, he is the most likely / appropriate / skilled person we could connect with this rumour in order that it flies across the internet like wildfire' rumours. Still, who's to say it isn't true in the end? Cough. Still, the movie looks as though that's the correct end of the deal, we knew that anyway, and the merchandise bandwagon is in full effect with videogames and other unnecessary bumf heading our way too... trailer for 'Afro Samurai' due online Monday. As long as Tim "Barbershop/Fantastic Four" Story isn't attached to this I'm excited. Hopefully the trailer will be of the gritty variety and not loopy or over-the-top.

In response to your "oh deary me":

As if something called Afro Samurai could possibly be the next Seven Samurai anyway :D *laughs*

I'm kinda getting tired of this tongue-in-cheak making a film to goof/cash-in on Sam Jackson's persona pretty quick.

dmack - dont know what your trying to get at, i am probably the least interested person in academic film behaviour... i sigh at rza doing the soundtrack cos its a poor choice, cliched and brings it a little too close to americanised asian culture for comfort. i dont expect all things to be the greatest work of art ever - far from it, i seek the art in the trash more often than you seem to realise.
