Whitehouse Doesn't Need Enfield, Enfield Needs Whitehouse.

There's a story thats drifting around, a reunion of Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse. Sure, could happen, the duo did some great work and Enfield got all the credit and the fame, then Whitehouse left and started on things like 'The Fast Show' and gradually matured into one of the most important, skilled, and entertaining comedy actors and writers we have - see Bafta-Winning (this year) 'Help' with Chris Langham, the variety and accuracy of his observations and performances are simply second to none - whilst Enfield drifted into obscurity and never managed anything beyond the last series back in 1994.

British Comedy had a great duo for some years, doesn't need them back however flagging some people may regard the output of any channel currently making the stuff : Comedy is in fine fettle, never better, never more depth, never more dodgy stuff too - but the output is huge, and the quality still remains despite this. Must - Look - Forward.

Yes, some minor successes and some interesting work, but no more growth, no new ground, no interesting new ideas. Revealed then, the power behind Enfield's rise to fame was Whitehouse's willingness (at the time) to sit in the background with Charlie Higson and simply have fun writing and performing alongside the 'star' who kept the unwanted popular attention off his back. A reunion, well Whitehouse doesn't need it, shouldn't want it, has no purpose to get involved with it. Enfield? Very talented, very important, lost his way... shame, but I don't think Whitehouse will put himself into someone elses career in this way.

I will eat my hat, and I don't have one : so I would also need to go out and buy one.
