I was already in love with this film based on the tag line alone - When Kick Ass Cops Can't Get The Job Done ... Bring In The Kick Ass Magic - and then word began to circulate that it's actually quite good and a whole lot of fun. And, happily, after a disappointing string of highly anticipated Thai films hitting DVD without subtitles - The Tine Mine, Citizen Dog and Midnight My Love being the most obvious - Tiger Blade has just hit DVD in Thailand and it IS english subtitled! Whee! Low rent fun for everyone!

It's a bit annoying when people can't even trim the leaders from their trailers.

Yeah, I've got Ahimsa on order as well. Brutal River is actually pretty fun, though there's not quite as much giant alligator action as you'd hope for in a creature feature.

Tiger Blade DVD has some Thai police censorship: They pixelate or blur out guns if they are pointed at close range at people's heads. Also, cigarette smoking gets the Vaseline treatment. Smoking is supposed to be illegal in Thai films anyway, so most films avoid having characters that smoke anymore. Very odd about the pixellated guns, though.

There's more than that altered ... I just got an untouched screener from Mono ... full version clocks in at 1:28:11 with about a five second lead in. The commercially released version is 1:27:38 with a 24 second intro included ... means roughly a minute and a half of cuts made to the DVD ...
