Proper Silent Hill Trailer Online

That web teaser for Christophe Gans' adaptation of Silent Hill that did the rounds a while back was mighty impressive and now the proper theatrical trailer has hit. The big hurdle for game adaptations has always been whether it can play to people who don't know the game and this one is looking as though it may be able to cross that gap ... I'm not one hundred percent sold, but I'm getting closer ...

Too bad it's missing the neat effects that were in the teaser. Made the movie look more like the games, I thought.

Silent Hill could be the one that will break the trend of awful adaptation of video game to film. With Christope Gans as director and Roger Avery as writer, I have alot of faith that they can get the job done right, after seeing what they are capable of in their last movie, "Brotherhood of the Wolf". I'm impress with how the trailer capture the dark atmosphere and the errie feel from the game. As a fan of the game, I really hope this doesn't disappoint.

Yeah, I agree with the poster: the grain filters in the teaser definitely made the film that much more faithful to the game. However, isn't this already seemingly more faithful to the source material than all the other video game movies made thus far?

Holy crap, when Pyramid Head showed up... all the creatures here look great. The nurses felt off a little somehow, but geez, that's just nitpicking. The room effects are great too, when the paint and stuff starts peeling off.

Best touch was the Silent Hill intro music at the end of the trailer. Now that song is eerie!

Where can one get the music from the games? I love the soundtrack, so fucking creepy.

Listen, I'm not a gamer, but this 'official' trailer for Silent Hill is just awful.

Gosh, I'm really scared by that little girl who keeps running behind the woman constantly. For the entire length of the trailer...

Someone should fire the editor who cut it and hire the guy who cut together that new Hills Have Eyes trailer.

But it is nice to see Gans has got something coming to screen soon.

Swarez, the soundtracks (theme at the start is from the second game and the theme at the end from the first) usually go pretty cheap on eBay - the 2nd soundtrack is by far the best.

Oh yeah AAAAAAAAHHHHH! This looks awesome. I do agree with the comments about the grain filter though..that would have been just too pleasing.

triple post?

Thank you so much for posting this! I am so excited :D I hope they hire Akira Yamaoka for the soundtrack and that we get a Melissa Williamson song for the credits.

As far as I remember Akira Yamaoka has done/is on board to do the soundtrack, hasn't he? If not, I think it's a bit late to drag him in now... ;)

Liked it myself. Yes, fair point, the old woman babbling about descending into the bowels of hell is - oh - something of a painful cliche... but then sadly the film seems to have lifted most of its plot from the first game, which began the "eeevil cult" Silent Hill storyline, which always seemed like embarassing juvenile nonsense to me compared to the intelligence and emotion on display in the second (and the surreal invention of the fourth). Nonetheless, I think it looks visually wildly impressive, has nothing in it to make me grimace outright, and comes across as promising beyond my wildest dreams. First decent videogame-to-film adaptation ever, here we come.

Of course there will be critics who'll spear it viciously just because it's originally a videogame, regardless of it merits, but there's not much we can do about that.

This could be what we've all been waiting for Christope Gans is the best man for the job someone who has stated his love for the games and if you've seen Brotherhood of the wolf you will be as interested in this project as I am .And you know Konami would have told him that there was no chance of him even trying to make this film if he didn't get the point in the games. Lets hope this is the start of film makers taking games seriously as a art form and actually try to stay true to the original flow of the games they are turning into movies.
