Nice. Gordon Liu [Kill Bill Volume 1 & 2], star of some of the best Shaw Brothers films in my collection [36th Chamber of Shaolin/The 8 Diagram Pole Fighter] is currently filming a new kung fu film tenatively titled 'Master of Monkey Fist'.
Synopsis: The kungfu movie relates to scion of Xi Qiao, Feng Shi-Er (Tan An-Ye, a US Muay Thai champion), a martial arts fanatic. After challenging Iron Bridge and being defeated, Feng Shi-er seeks tutelage under him, and gets embroiled in the tussle between Iron Bridge (Bruce Liang) and Northern School's Monkey Fist King (Gordon Liu).
It diificult to tell from the synopsis what role this is for Liu. Villain? Hero? Supporting? Regardless, the gathering of old school kung fu talent like this for the big screen is a welcome one. Liu's reputation among kung fu fans and new fans thanks in part to the Kill Bill series may help reach a broader audience outside of China/Hong Kong.
