Kurt Wimmer's Equilibrium is a poster child for the ability of DVD to extend a film's lifespan. Released without a speck of promotional support here in North America is disappeared without so much as a whimper only to acheive global cult status once it hit DVD and word began to spread. Alas, the cult doesn't seem to have helped Wimmer get his sophomore film released as Ultraviolet has been held in major studio hell seemingly forever. They're currently saying a March release for the Milla Jovovich starring sci-fi actioner, but I'll believe it when I see it. But maybe if enough people make noise about this it'll help the cause ...
A complete scene from the film has turned up online and it's showcasing all the style you'd expect from Wimmer. Unfortunately it's a grotty cam-job, but what are you going to do ... the studio's certainly not in any rush to show it to people in any decent format. I turned it up on a Russian film site but I always find their server rather glitchy and had a very hard time getting this to download clean so I'm mirroring it here as well.

As for the video, the action sequence had some interesting camera shot. I really enjoy Kurt Wimmer's Equalbruim but for this particular scene, my main beef is how the bad guys is set up so that some unlucky sucker is on the line of the crossfire. No idiot when stand infront of the crossfire when another guy is pointing a gun at someone else. Its just common sense.
Personally I think Wimmer needs to change up the way she moves in this shot. It's too much like she has weapons herself, and though I know that may be the point, it just doesn't seem to work especialy after seeing Bale WITH guns in Equilibrium. I don't know...may just be that I'm picky.
Maybe I shouldn't have told him over dinner that Gun-kata was "you got something there."
And yes I'm bragging a little...
well it makes sense because one guy shot first....and since that backfired and killed the guy in front of her...people started shooting and since she's this crazy predictor she knows when and how to move and it just gets more chaotic from there. the bad guys assumed the first guy would kill her but they were wrong. i just don't really like milla cause it seems so done before with her having done so many action movies. it's like "hey...it's the fifth element character with a red wig or...it's whatever that girl's name in resident evil with a wig." cool camera angles and zooms though. i'm gonna watch it again.
The large number of POV shots makes it look like the scene was cut using footage from a first person shooter.
