Well, speculation was that Donnie Yen either mis-spoke or was mis-quoted when he said that brillian Hong Kong martial arts drama Sha Po Lang (SPL) had been purchased by Miramax, and that speculation has now been proven correct. Variety is reporting that The Weinstein Company has purchased rights for the film in North America, The UK and Ireland. No word yet on a potential release date.
SPL reviews here, here and here.
Thanks to Maria for the news.

Is this good or bad news?
Again I say I dn't know whether to weep or cheer...
This is a big assumption, but based on seeing the film, I really can't see why the Weinsteins would have any reason to cut or trim anything...there is no fat on the film, and nothing that would risk 'offending' or 'confusing' a western audience....
That being said this is Harvey Scissorhands...
