Ayumi Hamasaki's pop-music stylings aside, the trailer for the female Ninja epic Shinobi is a good one. And not surprisingly, an American company, Off Road Pictures, (home of the Wachowski brothers) is sniffing around for a potential remake.
Because it is easily worth another look, here is the trailer for the Japanese film starring Nakama Yukie and Jô Odagiri. (Downloadable Quicktime). Shinobi premiered in Japan on September 5th and opened wide there on September 17th.

this movie is based from a japanese novel. same japanese novel has a anime and manga adaptation. you might want to check it out. the anime|manga is called Basilisk: Kouga Ninpou Chou.
Nakama Yukie makes some of the cheesiest facial expressions..
It would have been nice if this had a side scrolling action movie with colour coded ninjas!

So I've just read that they're likely going to take this Shinobi remake out of the ninja context and move the story line into a more contemporary one - coorporate espionage. Having not seen the movie yet I cannot tell you if this is okay or just plain boneheaded.
