Although we'll have a complete box office report tomorrow, Park Gwang-Hyun's '웰컴 투 동막골' ('Welcome To Dongmakgol') and Park Chan-Wook's '친절한 금자씨'('Sympathy For Lady Vengeance') have been fighting all weekend for the top spot at the box office. It seems the country is only talking about those two films, bringing up happy memories of '실미도' ('Silmido') 's 10 million, and '태극기 휘날리며' ('Taegukgi') 's 11 million tickets sold.

'Dongmakgol' had an impressive first week with 1,290,000 tickets sold, which added to the 193,000 people who watched paid advanced screenings makes an impressive grand total of 1,483,000 tickets in just 3 days (plus a week or so of previews), from 464 screens (110 in Seoul).

'Lady' keeps growing as well. In its 10th day on release, the film has reached an impressive 2,850,000 tickets sold. While the distributors' target of 5,000,000 tickets is still far, it looks like the film will keep growing for the time being.
