Oooh ... Bloody-Disgusting is currently pointing the way to a new trailer for Wolf Creek, the big horror buzz film out of Australia that had the Weinsteins opening their wallet earlier this year. Looks like pretty gripping stuff, particularly considering that it's based - at least partially - on actual events. Check it out in Quicktime here.

looks pretty standard.

Standard? We have our collective fingers crossed that it is more than decent.
For us down here it's an extremely relatable story. It mixes up 2 true stories. The serial killer Ivan Milat case from the early 90s & the unsolved 2001 murder of British backpacker Peter Falconio in the Northern Territory.
The actor playing the role of the psycho is John Jarratt, who most recently was on a TV home improvement reality show as a handyman.

All reports is that this is one of the best films that we have made down here in the last several years. Our industry is in a shit state. Last year we made 13 feature films. 95% of them were dogsballs that will never see the light of day overseas.

yep, another version of this trailer made it online overnight : same footage and slightly different text or editing to include reviews from british magazines. reading the piece by the director(?) written in a production diary style from the latest 'empire magazine' i would say its one of the top 10 films i am interested in at the moment... looks great - yes, horror is always potentially very similar, and yes it could be this years 'haute tension' but thats not necessarily a bad thing. looks great. nice work.

I thought the film was very good, probably the best horror I've seen for while. Anyone reading this that hasnt seen it look away now, did anyone else realise that if the plot is slightly true about the man escaping at the end, that he could have killed the girls because obviously the girls story must have been fictional?
